Tidbits®936What is a Tidbit?A "tidbit" is defined as "a tasty morsel to be enjoyed before the meal". And that is what Tidbits® is, -- a non-controversial, weekly, newspaper dedicated to publishing entertaining morsels for the mind, food for thought as it were: trivia, fun facts, amusing stories, and oddities. Our unique editorial blend is what hooks our readers and keeps them coming back for more. They seek out each week's new issue and take copies home or to the office to share with family and friends. As merchants discover this loyalty, more and more have placed their marketing message in front of our readers. The History of Tidbits® Tidbits began in a small town in Montana, in the late 1980's. Dave Steele saw the paper and fell in love with the concept; so in 1993 he bought the rights to the name "Tidbits". He hired the original writer and he began publishing Tidbits of Billings, Montana. When readers picked up the paper they too fell in love with it and many asked how they could publish Tidbits in their town. Soon Dave began to sell publishing rights (licenses) to other publishers, and over the years built a nationwide family of Tidbits papers numbering well over 100. In April of 2002 Tidbits Media, Inc. of Montgomery, Alabama was formed to purchase Tidbits from Dave Steele, and the company headquarters was moved there the same year. The present owners continue the publisher licensing business model, but have added significant training and home-office support. They have the goal of making TIDBITS a nationally recognized brand. Presently there are about 250 Tidbits publishers across the United States with a weekly readership of over 4 million. At the local level, the mission of Tidbits is to entertain people while they wait. Some have called it a "lunch counter magazine", but it is more properly referred to as a "weekly entertainment tabloid". (A detailed history of Tidbits in Huntsville, and Walker County can be found on the Tidbits News Page.)
