Tidbits® (in Walker County, TX) was originally started in 1996 by two college students at Sam Houston State University, Jonathan Jones and Jason Rollo. Their original contract with Tidbits Media, Inc. became effective on July 23, 1996. Jonathan and Jason continued to publish the paper until selling it to a new publisher, Troy Leland on March 18, 1997. Mr. Leland was the publisher of Tidbits® of Walker County until selling it to Larry George in early 1999. Mr. George continued the paper, subsequently selling it to Donn Seale in late 1999. Mr. Seale published the paper until he suffered a bout with ill health and sold the paper to Bruce and Lori Aden in September of 2003. Mr. and Mrs. Aden were successful, and very dedicated to the publishing of Tidbits® of Walker County, and would have continued except for changes that were beyond their control, and in an interest to see the paper continue to flourish, they sold the paper to us in late February 2005.
On March 3, 2005, our first issue (#436) of Tidbits® of Walker County was published and the main article was about the ‘Alamo’.
On August 2, 2006, the first issue of Tidbits®936, a full size entertainment tabloid paper, is delivered to the people of Walker County and to the citizens of the City of Trinity, marking the first time that Tidbits has been delivered outside of Walker County.
On October 11th, 2006, with the publication of Tidbits® of Walker County, now Tidbits®936, issue #520, the paper officially became TEN YEARS OLD. To mark this occasion, we host the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Breakfast and invite all of the past publishers of the paper to attend. The event is attended by Jason Rollo, co-founder, and Bruce Aden, former publisher, as well as Mr. Joe Norris and his son C.J. (Mr. Norris assisted Donn Seale in running the paper from 1999 to 2003.)
In July 2008, the format of the paper was revised to a three column paper making the advertising ads larger and the paper easier to read.
In July of 2010 it was time to retire so the paper was sold to HGH Enterprises Inc. which was great because the new owners were extremely familiar with the paper as they had been advertisers in it for years and Huntsville residents most of their lives. The new owners sent their first issue to press on July 10th, 2010, issue #716.
Tidbits®936 continues to work toward being the best paper for our readers and the best value for our advertisers. We promise to strive to continually make the paper better and encourage your input.
